General info

Ragnar has a large and enthusiastic swimming community. We offer four practice sessions per week and participate in five major swimming tournaments each year! Our practices are designed to accommodate swimmers of all levels, as long as you have basic swimming skills. Each lane is organized by ability level—beginners focus on learning the fundamentals of each stroke, while the fastest lane is for experienced swimmers who have been training for years.

Interested in trying a practice for free? Send an email to our swimming commissioner at zwemmen@ragnar-rotterdam.nl, and we’ll arrange a date for you to join!

Competitions

During the season, Ragnar competes in five student swimming competitions: NSZKs and NSK. The NSZK competitions bring together teams from 11 universities across different cities in the Netherlands. The NSK consists of a regular swimming competition and an open water event, both open to all students in the country. Each competition weekend kicks off on Friday with a social drink, followed by the races on Saturday. After competing, we enjoy dinner together and wrap up the weekend with a big party. Depending on the competition’s location, we either stay in Rotterdam or spend the night in the hosting city.
